Update Finally & Con Report

Hey Hey everyone! Yeah I know its been like forever since I updated my page, yet alone wrote a journal. *cough* Slacker *cough*  Anyway a little bit on the updates to the page. I added two new photo galleries, which can be found under "links" then "pictures". The one gallery is from Ohayocon 2008, which I will cover the details of further on in this posting in the form of my con report. The other is from Sugoicon 2007, which was the con before Ohayocon. Other than those galleries, not a whole lot has changed on the site.As for whats been going on with me since last update. Went to Sugoicon, never got around to writing up a con report / update to that, sorry to those who might have been hoping for one. After that I ended up developing a cold, although minor it sorta stuck with me for a good while. I thought I was over it, but when I got to Ohayocon I started feeling it again. Then after Ohayocon I pretty much got killed by it.  I was down for about a week after the con, and have been progressively getting better since, now I am finally starting to feel normal again, just a little cough here and there. The past weekend and this week have been pretty good and fun thanks to a new friend, only downside is work is crapping out on me since it seems they are loosing more and more customers. But meh what can you do on that, so I've continued posting applications around for various companies with job openings in my field. This weekend I'm planning on taking a trip up to Toledo to visit Chris and Rita again, we should have a good time, so far we are thinking about the car show and a movie. Thats about all the exciting bits that have been goin on, anything else and I might post about it. Ok now for the part people have been actually waiting for..... the ----=CON REPORT=---- Ohayocon 2008 ... January 4-6th .. Columbus, OH Friday: Left home around 9am .. arrived at the con hotel around 11:30ish. We found a parking spot somewhere on the 2nd floor the parking garage as usual, got into the hotel and went to go check in, only to be told that our rooms are not available yet and won't be for about an hour to an hour and a half  So we went and got registered, in the registration room I ran into most of the group (Ashley, Marissa, Ricky, Chris and Rita) . We sat in the back of the reg room for a bit then Chris and me went to go get our panelist badges. The rest of the group went to go get some lunch at the food court. After picking up our badges we wandered around for a bit and eventually around 1pm I went back to the hotel desk to find out if our rooms were ready yet. Success... 1 room was ready at least, so we started moving our stuff into the one room. Let me just say 13 people's stuff in 1 room is not that easy to do, or get around, but hey its better than having no place to put the stuff. Since we had a room now we started getting into costume so we could at least wander around and get photos. Eventually the whole group made it to the room and everyone traded greetings (Chris, Rita, Mike, Santra, Chelsea, Ashley, Ricky, Marissa, My brother, Heather, Bri, Marissa (Momo), and myself). My costume for friday was Kyouya from Ouran High School Host Club, it was a costume that I promised I'd do, and since I finished it before Ohayocon, I figured I'd premiere it there. It went over pretty well so that was a good thing. Around 2 we called about our other room, which was finally ready, they said they would send up keys (sent up wrong ones, and caused us more problems). Eventually we got everything sorted out with it. The rest of the day was pretty much a bunch of wandering around, taking pictures, and waiting on elevators (always an issue at this con). The last major event for Friday evening was the group cosplay judging for our Cowboy Bebop group which was at 9pm, the judging went pretty good and the judges seemed impressed by the details and some of the various aspects of the costumes. Always a good thing. After we got out of judging we wandered around for a bit more and eventually ended up back in the hotel room sometime later on. Where we played a few rounds of Family Guy trivia blast and then watched Paprika. I can't exactly what else might have gone on prior to this but that was pretty much it for Friday. Saturday: Woke up around 11ish got into costume and headed down for some wandering and photos as usual. Once everyone finally got up, ready and moving around we got into the good costumes for the day and started the good photo sessions. Somewhere along the line we got lunch and of course there was much wadering, vendor room trips and such. I'm not exactly sure on all the happenings, but I know we ended up in the game rooms around 5 and played some Smash Bros and Guitar Hero 3. Following this Chris and Santra decided to have a quick sparring fight in the hallway (caught this on video).  After that we ended up sitting in the hallway for a good bit just talking and figuring out what pizza we were going to order.After finally deciding on the pizza issue I ordered for the room and then we headed back up to wait for it. The pizza got there around 7:45 (pretty sure) and once I got it back to the room I found out that they had messed the order up somehow. We originally ordered 1 lrg thin crust pepperoni, 1 lrg regular pepperoni, 1 medium cheese, 1 medium hawaiian. What we got was 3 lrg thin crust pepperoni, and 1 medium cheese. So i called them back and they told me they would send out the correct pizzas and what we got just keep the extras free. So we ended up having 2 free pizzas that made us quite happy, now we had extra food for after the rave and possible for lunch Sunday.We ate our pizza and watched some random movies that were on tv and then headed on downstairs for the AMV contest showing, also while back in the room I got a call informing me that our group had won Cosplay... Best in Division, which was a total surprise YAY! Thankfully Marissa came up with an excuse for us not being there otherwise our group would have been disqualified so yay for her quick thinking. The AMV contest seemed to be going ok and the editors that submitted were pretty good. Because of the timing of the event we couldn't stay too long before we had to leave to get ready for the rave, so we finished picking our choices and gave our ballots in. We eventually got back to the room after messing around on the 2nd floor in the lounge area and then running the stairs up piggy back style! We got to the room finally, changed into our rave outfits and got all glowed up with glow sticks. YAY GLOW STUFF! Ok so now for the rave. We got there and there was a little bit of a line still this was about 30-45 mins already after it started. So once we all got into the room, which was a bit small in my opinion.. we all gathered into a group close to the middle / front. Eventually people spread out a bit and the group lost a few members, but we were all having a good time. That was until they stopped the rave the hotel told them that they had to get more space / less people or they would be shut down because the room was over capacity. So after about a 20 min wait in the hallway as they figured out what they were doing they finally started to let people back into the rave. What they ended up doing was opening the LE Ops room up into more room for the rave, and they set up some sound system out in the hallway to allow people to dance out there. We danced for a good while, some circle action w/ break dancing, some glow stick swinging and the occasional water break here and there. I eventually took a break around 1 or 2 (not quite sure) to go and check on the people that were missing from our group, ended up running into them coming back from the room on their way back down. So we stopped and chatted for a bit in the lounge / bar area. After that break I went back to the rave and danced for the rest of the time that we were there. We left the rave around 3:40am-ish and got back to the room where we decided that we would have some more fun with pizza box surfing in the hallway its like a con tradition now. After a bit of that we retired into the room watching a bit of tv the deciding that we should probably sleep since we had to be up early Sunday morning for check out and my panel. So eventually there was sleep, after I had to stay awake to let some people into the room because of the screwed up key situation.Sunday: Woke up early like 8am... really I swear i don't want to have to do that again, it was a crazy morning. We packed all our stuff up and got it all ready and got all of ourselves ready since my panel was at 10:30am we originally thought checkout was at 11, which it turned out it wasnt until noon, but oh well, better to be out and ready early than pay for an extra day. So after all the madness was over we got to my panel, setup and I started it. Not too bad for my first panel, it started about 15 mins late, but hey its con timing. I had about 20 people show up for my panel, which I though was pretty good for that time on a Sunday morning, and the subject matter. So after my panel was over I packed up all my stuff and took it to the car and then it was back to the con for the rest of the events that I wanted to get to. First stop the vendors room, I hadn't bought anything all con .. *gasp* so I couldn't leave without another stop here. I ended up getting a green "bamboo for peace" traditional wall scroll, the dvd boxed set of Trinity Blood, and the dvd boxed set of Basalisk. All of which were pretty good buys, granted the dvd sets I could get cheaper on sale, but oh well its a con and its in the moment. After the vendors room we wandered around for a little bit trying to contact people who left stuff in our rooms, eventually got some of it taken care of, other stuff ended up getting packed up to come home with us. We stayed for the AMV awards because of course I wanted to see if I would get lucky and maybe get a win, or second place, but no luck. Oh well can't win em all, it was still a good time and I did agree with the winners that were chosen. After the awards got out we headed for the parking garage, ready to leave. But we couldn't just leave like usual... piggy back race to the elevators! Always fun. We went down to the P1 level where Chris parked and I brought out the camera to record the fight, Santra and Chris wanted to fight / spar and of course how can you not record it. Although I wish I could have recorded more, I had to get going because of timing concerns with getting back home. But all in all it was a good time and lots of good fun. All that was left was the drive back home and then uploading stuff over the next couple days.  So thats my general con wrap-up, theres stuff I know I missed mentioning, sorry about that, but the memory is only working so good tonight. I would have written this up some time ago, but my sickness kinda hindered me a bit more than I would have liked. But yeah until next con report, I hope you all enjoyed it, and to my friends...
